Equatorial Guinea Research & A Fellow Kitchen Globetrotter

A tiny country on the Western coast of Africa, Equatorial Guinea promises to be a tough country to cook. The majority of the population is poor, and as in many other African countries, staples include cassava and plantains.  Basically, they eat what they can grow.  Meat is rarely consumed, and typically only for special occasions.  And I did read a little about monkeys and rodents making the menu...  I have spent an hour searching for recipes without even one contender.

where in Africa is Equatorial Guinea?

However, I did make one important discovery today.  Upon my return to my culinary quest, I stumbled upon another blogger with my same mission.  She started her project in February of 2010 (just when I fizzled), and is cooking one meal a week.  Her web site is amazing, her food photographs are gorgeous, and the amount of time she seems to spend working on her blog is enviable.  Not to mention her NPR interview!  I will admit I was a bit deflated when I found her site.  It is basically everything I dreamed mine could be.  But, Ted has convinced me that it should serve to inspire, and I think he is right.  Not to mention, I will definitely be using her blog to help with my recipe research!  If you have a chance, you should check out Global Table Adventure.

Now, back to uncovering rodent-free meals from Equatorial Guinea...
